LaMilCo is a consultancy company based in Groningen, the Netherlands.
Our main occupation consists currently of advising local governments on "external safety".
External Safety is the term used in the Netherlands to refer to minimising the risks posed by the production, transport, storage and use of dangerous materials.
Backgrounds
In the aftermath of the disasters in Enschede and Volendam the Dutch Cabinet set up a long list of actions with the aim to improve external safety in the Netherlands. One of the measures taken is the obligation to report risk situations involving hazardous substances. The Register Risk Situations Hazardous Substances (RRGS) was called into being by the VROM ministry. Governmental agencies are compelled by law to inform the RRGS. In the long run the information from the RRGS will be integrated in the regional risk maps.
LaMilCo is one of the leading companies in the Netherlands specialised in carrying out a risk inventory ("risico-inventarisatie") in which all relevant data concerning hazardous substances in a certain area are collected and evaluated.
For the time being, LaMilCo focuses only on the Dutch "market". When we expand our activities abroad, this site will be adjusted likewise.
